This place was fantastic. The staff and volunteers were all friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. You should think of Hatley Castle, and Hatley Park National Historic Site, more as an elaborate mansion and less of a medieval castle. It is still very grand and very impressive! The entire Castle was built within 2 years and had an expensive electrical system as well! The castle also had 13 fireplaces! It has a large garden with 3 ponds to it's West side and a massive lawn to it's South. The castle was occupied and acted as an academy for the armed forces but currently serves as an administrative building for the neighboring college. These are just some of the facts and figured that you will learn if you get to chance and have the time to take part in their paid tour! It's definitely worthwhile. This site also has a huge grass lawn along with a multiple gardens that, altogether, contain 3 ponds. Ample paid parking just south of the castle. This is also a great place for weddings and formal ceremonies.
